Steven A. Caouette, Beloved Litchfield Resident, Tragically Dies in Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Wales, ME
Steven A. Caouette, a 51-year-old man from Litchfield, Maine, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash in Wales on April 15, 2026.
Local authorities confirmed that the accident occurred around 6 p.m. along Route 197, also known as Litchfield Road. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene after a 911 call reported the crash.
Upon arrival, first responders found Steven ejected from his motorcycle after the vehicle collided with a utility pole. Despite efforts to assist him, Steven was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators revealed that Steven had been traveling towards Litchfield when he lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve. The collision caused the utility pole to snap, temporarily blocking traffic in both directions.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office, along with multiple emergency agencies including the Wales Fire Department, Sabattus Fire and Police, and United Ambulance Service, responded to the scene. The incident is currently under investigation, with detectives working to reconstruct the events leading to the fatal crash.
