Nefi Lopez Gutierrez, 35, and Azusena Barragan, 50, lost their lives in a tragic early-morning collision on April 17, 2026, in North Hollywood.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. on Colfax Avenue, just north of Calvert Street, when a speeding vehicle struck two pedestrians who had stepped out of a parked car.
The impact forced both individuals into the roadway and caused additional damage to nearby parked vehicles before the moving car came to a stop in a driveway.
Emergency responders pronounced Gutierrez at the scene, while Barragan was transported to a hospital, where they later passed away from injuries.
